Because they’re socially constructed differently. You can’t claim that you’re from somewhere you aren’t, but there’s nothing about sex that determines what your gender is. Gender is fluid and our relationship with gender can move and be complicated by our personal experiences and society. But you cannot pretend that you are from somewhere you aren’t; they’re different experiences and not analogous.
