In this episode, Sandy and Nora talk about how Canada’s news ecosystem is incapable of challenging power, and as a result what we learn from the news isn’t the whole story. Plus, Elizabeth May gets a two-minute mention.

A news crises is due in part mostly when those that post to whatever news organization a differing opinion . Regardless of what is stated and as long as it does not promote violence let it remain publicly visible! Do not let biased ! Maybe ignorant uneducated editors decide the fate of what is being stated.
CBC our Canadian broadcaster and biggest media outlet is part if not the whole problem in Canadian media
They ask a question and delete the answer.

Reply to @Andrew Joseph Blanche: I do not think that is the real concern that people have ? I think you Are wrong about the underlying premise. It is not about politics ,it is all about a civil society and how to interact not only within the Canadian border but globally. Mr Trudeau, this is what you need to do. When one signs up for an account at any online newspaper or blog regardless of size you need to have a section that can accept Government issued I.D. You need to convince the newspapers such as The New York Times or Globe and Mail it is in their best interests. I would assume that those that would like to participate in social media will have no problem with providing this information. It will benefit the Newspapers more than likely only due to the fact that it shows commitment to social media behaviour . Every news outlet is biased in their own way as to what they consider acceptable commentary. Most people have interest in writing about something that interests them regardless if on facebook or national news sites. so! When aliases or people hiding behind a moniker try to disrupt the otherwise civil conversation it is being done to cause angst in some cases. Some people after reading articles based on politics and religion that differ from there own might lash out has feeling repressed or marginalised or at least that has been stated as a fear from the government ,maybe rightfully so or maybe not, the best way the Government can tackle the problem is by proving identity by forcing all social media outlets to start asking for ID for the privilege of participating in online society.

Method and system for social credit scoring
Abstract
A method for calculating a social credit score based on online activity of a user is provided. Online activity may be monitored and processed to calculate an indicator of user activity and its influence on other users to obtain a social credit score of the user. Social credit scores may be used to stimulate users to be more active in their online socializing, share their content, and provide information. Social credit scores may be a source of information for advertisers, employers, bankers, and others. Information on social credit scores may be analyzed to determine users with high scores to distinguish top score users and mark them with special prizes, titles, or symbols. Additionally, a list of top scorers may be published via a social networking engine or otherwise as an additional factor of stimulation for other users.

It now appears Twitter under the ownership of Elon Musk is thinking of charging $8.00 a month for the privilege of proving one’s authenticity when participating on Twitter ! Basically they want you to provide government identification along with $8.00.

But in 2023? I find those at times, who might have added to the conversation regardless of where the story originated and regardless of size, as regardless of size they are trying to gain hits in order to produce an income by way of advertising and sponsors and should because of this be highly regulated. And all communication between those that wrote is permanently retained. I also believe that when people write into online sites, it is the government’s responsibility , while trying to gain control over what is being propagated to retain all communication and not allow for news sites regardless of size to decide its appropriateness . As how can anyone other than the genius that wrote it really understand its relevance if society cannot find what one human had to say at this particular time in history
If the elite of this society and those that believe the social credit society will prevail into our everyday lives in the future better get a handle on this particular issue . They need to find past communication regardless of whether that site is still in operation while making those trying to make a living off it produce all communication from the outside world.
It should no longer be allowed that communication between internet broadcasters be edited or allowed not visible? But visible and let the author take responsibility for their actions and how they would like to be remembered by those in the future, past and present.

Yesterday I called the CRTC to ask a question relating to bill C-11 and bill 18. The CRTC stated that the intent was to promote Canadian news and media content. The act is really quite convoluted to some degree and full of legal references . So be it! As I am being told by the CRTC management that they have no intent on trying to curb censorship and it is being done only with the intent to promote Canadian content.
Personally ,It seems to have similarities to what I would have considered a general premise back in 2019, as a positive for reigning in content that might pose detrimental to Canadian society.

I believe Bill c63 is in fact quite close to what I have been advocating for in principal since 2019 as a way to gain control over online hate and misinformation while trying to gain an income from it. Actually today was the first time I have called Justin Trudeau on this particular issue going so far as to show support for bill c63 . Leaving my phone and contact information so as to compare his train of thought to my own from 2019. I support Bill C63 and believe it is close in ideology to my own thinking .

But ? My version of what steps needed to be taken, was not to threaten criminal action ,it did not occur to me!, I was more attuned to the idea of self incrimination by way of taking responsibility by way of public humiliation . More of a public database of past participation that could be stored like a credit rating issue pertaining to late payments in the issuance of credit!
Let it remain a reminder to those who have either calculated out a response to issues or responded to issues of politics ,race and religion hastily without contemplation but out of sudden angst and rage towards any online issue be accountable by letting it remain as long as that person can be publicly identified for how there mind works, it would more than likely help banks determine potential losses and let the public world wide know who they might be doing business with ,hence the need for government to force online broadcasters of all sizes to confirm by way of proof of who they really are and not hiding behind a moniker, as a moniker right or wrong cannot take credit for there public contribution into society. If someone wants to be remembered in the future as hateful and without care of the written word so be it! But hold them accountable while making it public to the rest of the world . They might repent publicly knowing it is visible in such a visible way helping change their attitude and perception of life due inner reflection after public exposure.

WHY? The attempted assasination of Donald Trump seems indicative of the side effects of mass media and those who are prone to being effected.
Personally ,I believe those that now profess in hindsight the rhetoric in the news towards Donald Trump was too harshs ,outlandish and that it helped fuel the fire by helping it come to fruition should have been applying critical thinking on the issue of side effects before it became a problem .
Donald Trump is just the centre of attention at the moment of what is the ramifications of mass media on the human mind ,while those who capitulated to the fears of covid have also been affected, it is how they respond that is the issue.
The statements made by Kamala Harris after her campaign loss that Donald Trump posses a threat to America while the crown prosecutor against him in New York seems obsessed with him going so far as to seem seriously politicaly unhinged saying that she is ready and prepared for Donald Trump while seemingly promoting what seems revenge, while contemplating this headline from todays CBC front page.
‘We have a plan’ for Trump’s second presidency, Chrystia Freeland says
Deputy prime minister says federal government is prepared to defend Canada’s national economic interest
Help me see how people truly are victims of the news. The main stream is a singular stream when it comes to mass media ,as it is a concentrated ownership with a singular objective to brain wash regardless of correctness that Donald Trump is a threat and how they act moving forward will determine how badly they have been effected by the news at least mass media that seems to have a more sinister undertone of wanting to uprise against a democratically elected president of the United States

Hundreds of teenagers hooted and cheered for two mayoral hopefuls Thursday when the candidates boosted marijuana at a school assembly.
At an all-candidates’ debate at Sir John A. Macdonald High School, Michael Baldasaro impressed the crowd when he advocated for growing cannabis in Hamilton. Another mayoral candidate, Andrew Haines, caused an uproar when he advised his rival Edward H.C. Graydon to “smoke a joint.”

The brouhaha prompted Graydon – who was booed when he spoke out against marijuana at the assembly – to quit the race and throw his support behind Larry Di Ianni.

The comments are also raising questions about whether schools should host marijuana advocates running for council during debates. Despite the candidates’ well-known pot-platforms, Jackie Penman, spokesperson for the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, said the remarks came as “a surprise to everyone.
“The school certainly was disappointed that the candidates chose to do this in a forum with nearly 200 students,” she said.
The exchange began during the closing arguments at a mayoral debate held at Sir John A. Thursday morning. The audience was made up of mostly Grade 10 and 11 students from English, civics, and history classes.
Baldasaro, a leading member of a religious group that smokes marijuana as a sacrament, told the students the city should grow and harvest cannabis to create jobs.
“I wasn’t talking about smoking it. I was talking about growing it for food, fuel, and medicine,” said Baldasaro.
When it was Graydon’s turn to make his final argument, he took issue with Baldasaro’s comments and told advised the students against smoking pot.

“The kids, of course, showed their displeasure,” Di Ianni said.
Di Ianni, a former principal, then defended Graydon and spoke about his experiences watching the negative effects of drug use. Finally, the microphone was handed to Andrew Haines, also a medicinal marijuana user.
“You really need to smoke a joint,” Haines told Graydon.
“At that point, the entire audience lit right up – no pun intended,” Haines said.
Mayor Fred Eisenberger glossed over the comments about marijuana during his closing remarks and focused on his platform.
“I don’t intend to engage in those issues – we’ll talk about economic development, moving forward, taxes, poverty,” he said. Mayoral candidate Councillor Bob Bratina didn’t attend the debate.
After the assembly, Graydon voiced his frustration about the debate and told the Spectator he would formally announce his withdrawal from the race at the next all-candidates meeting. He said he feels Di Ianni is the right person for the job and he’s not sure if he has the ability to take on the role.
“I don’t want to find myself mayor and not be able to do the job and disappoint everyone,” said Graydon.
ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW
Di Ianni said he was happy to receive Graydon’s endorsement, but said he was “very angry” with Baldasaro and Haines. He says candidates who promote marijuana shouldn’t be invited to school debates.
“You have to remember what I’ve done all my life, which is try to keep kids on the straight and narrow,” Di Ianni said. “Here’s a message that totally undermines that in the guise of political leadership in the city.”
However, Eisenberger said it’s up to the debate organizers to lay out which subjects are appropriate and which ones aren’t.
“Other than that, democracy is democracy and people can say what they want.”
Haines said it wasn’t his intent “to screw anything up.
“I was suddenly put into a position where I had very little choice but to defend my position on cannabis,” he said, adding that he has written a letter of apology to Graydon and school officials.
Penman said the students who received an unexpected crash course in municipal politics at the debate will receive another impromptu lesson Friday morning: a refresher on the school’s anti-drug policy.

In retrospect taking into account the addiction issues facing Hamilton and Canada as a collective whole in 2024 I would have been neglectful to have taken any other position at that time in history. As I would have been on the wrong side of the social aspect of what would have constituted an overall benefit to society. While following Justin Trudeau down the rabbit hole of politically promoted ideas regarding drug use and promotion that seem to have had a negative effect on Canada.

CONTENT DEACTIVATED – WHY? None promotion of drugs in my opinion seemed a better political move based on my communication from 2008 after witnessing the CCP Chinese governments intended goal to make the United States and Canada a continent of drug addicts. How could I have stated anything other than it was a bad idea to promote drug use and although my stance was mocked, only a fool at that time would have capitulated to the understanding that it was a good idea.

Actually ! Depending on how you look at it ? It is the best thing that could have happened to Hamilton. I have no problem with the Americans approach to applying tariffs . While Andrea cries the blues others including myself welcome Donald Trumps tariffs on steel and aluminum . NOOO problem! Trump should just hit steel harder. The harder they hit steel the better hit steel so hard they close those toxic sites ….If you live in Hamilton and breath that toxic dust it is hard to care about the side effects of Donald Trumps tariffs . Who cares really?

So I guess you don’t have a car, bike, stove, fridge, microwave or anything else with steel or aluminum in it. Maybe we should turn the clock back 140 yrs to when canned food & refrigeration didn’t exist yet, no antibiotics, no planes or cars. Of course you’d also have to give up your smart phone which requires mining. But I’m sure you practice what you preach right

I will add to this thought by saying the amount of Canadians falling victim to mass hysteria regarding Donald Trump is similar in principle to the mass hysteria to have been vaccinated at all costs. And all reactions are based on how they react to mass media?
I will also add the attacks by Canadians towards Elon Musk seems indicative to a form of mental illness ,not necessarily a diagnosed mental disorder but a serious obsessive attachment in being unable to be on the correct side of history. While not being true to holding true conviction in their ability not to be swayed by mass media. I attached my direct comment that was posted on the grand opening site of retail magazine regarding the grand opening of the Tesla store at Limeridge Mall in Hamilton .
Edward HC Graydon February 16, 2025 At 11:19 am
To those that bought Teslas at the very high that are now threatening to sell them or return them to the dealers obviously at a major loss as who would now what to buy one if the hate for Elon Musk is that high? I would If I where Elon Musk and I wrote this to him that he should only allow returns from Canadians and Americans that pertain to legitimate warranty issues and political spite should not be taken into account by Tesla. As it seems given that people are spray painting and destroying Teslas making ownership problematic to say the least and the losses that are going to be felt by those who think this way is going to cause real financial angst as who would be the buyer at this time in history ? They will come cheap if you talk them down based on ? Why would I? Or who would as the damage out of revenge is not worth involvement, if one takes into consideration to your time and energy spent on the aftermath of purchase. Political spite as a reasoning for return should be accepted by Tesla if Tesla agrees to make compromises for political spite while paying our refunds of only .10 cents on the dollar, for that reasoning?.Then maybe Tesla might agree ? But right now I don’t believe Tesla should be obligated to do so. The precedence set out by doing so would in the long run might make financial contractual agreements prone to political opinion a problem unrelated to the purchase agreement.

Yesterday I happen to have been asked by my children to buy a Tesla. So I test drove the model X version ….Fantastic ! The self driving felt safe in my opinion but I don’t believe the technology regarding battery life is quite there yet. I Have no issues with the fact that Elon Musk is the owner as in my way of thinking it is irrelevant. But over the last few weeks it seems a propaganda approach by Canadian media to jump on board the anti American ideology . Personally, I do believe unless one is strong willed and well versed in the outstanding benefits offered to Canadians by Americans it is hard for those that are easily mentally manipulated to withstand the propaganda . It is interesting to the topic of mental manipulation somewhat similar to those that capitulated to covid vaccines thinking they were a benefit to ones health while actually believing covid originated in a natural environment like a wet market in China. There is much more to the issue of Tesla being American corporation. It seems a full on propaganda media blitz that is meant to mentally manipulate and distract from the fact that Canada is one of the biggest producers of a drug aimed to destroy society from within that over time producing a continent of drug addicts unable to contribute to society . Canadian media is trying to make Tesla the issue while ignoring the fact that Canada is a country made almost entirely of fentanyl drug addicts. Trump and Elon Musk are the best thing to happen to the planet depending on your idea of what constitutes the biggest threat to society? Tesla or the current Trudeau government who helped perpetuate the societal onslaught of drug addiction in Canada that now threatens the United States?
